Unemployment in Burke is lower than the rest of the state at 3.3 percent, which is also below the national average. Jobs in Burke are mainly professional with technical services, making up 25 percent of the industries within the city.

Burke is part of a populous area, which includes West Springfield, South Run, Kings Park, Ravensworth and Fairfax Station.
